Chiefs top Wildcats to stay perfect

Bellefontaine’s varsity baseball team improved to 3-0 on the season with an 8-4 victory over visiting Kenton on Wednesday.

The Chiefs got off to a fast start, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning.

After Kenton scored twice in the top of the second, Bellefontaine plated two runs in the bottom of the inning to take a 5-2 lead.

Kenton made the score 5-3 with a run in the fourth before Bellefontaine plated three runs in the sixth to up its lead to 8-3.

The Wildcats scored a run in the top of the seventh, but could get no closer.

Tyler Shamblin started on the mound for the Chiefs and went 3 2/3 innings to pick up the win. He did not allow an earned run. He struck out three, walked four and gave up three hits.
