In one day, Kevin Christman earned a spot among the best in college wrestling and also became the most successful wrestler ever at Tiffin University.
The former Indian Lake standout placed seventh at 285 pounds at the NCAA Division II national tournament Saturday to earn All-American honors in Birmingham, Ala.
“I feel it’s a pretty cool accomplishment,” said Christman, who is a sophomore for the Dragons. “Division II is considered by a lot of people to be the toughest it has ever been in all weight classes this year. So in terms of that, it’s a pretty cool accomplishment.
“I’m happy with placing seventh, but not satisfied. I knew I was capable of doing it, but it just depended if I could transition to heavyweight and put in the time and work it would take. That’s what it came down to, and in the end, hard work pays off.”
