Stevens claims title for Pirates at state

Freshman Taylor Stevens grabbed the spotlight for Riverside’s powerlifting team Saturday at the state meet in Kenton.

Stevens, competing in the 115-pound class, won an individual championship in dominating fashion. She had the highest squat total with a state-record lift of 300 pounds and the highest deadlift total with a state-record 300 pounds.

The meet was for teams in Divisions IV, V and VI. The state competitions for the other three divisions is next Saturday.
