Local bowlers unable to advance out of district tourney


The boys bowling teams of Bellefontaine and Benjamin Logan saw their seasons come to a close Saturday in the district tournament at Beaver-Vu Lanes in Beavercreek.

The Chieftains finished in 11th with a 3,965 score. The Raiders were 23rd as a team with a 3,631 score.

Oak Hills won the district title with 4,328, Beavercreek was second with 4,276, Kettering Fairmont was third with 4,207 and Troy took fourth with 4,181.

The top four teams and top four individuals not on a qualifying team advanced to the state tournament.

Roman Miller led the Chieftains games of 178, 192 and 224 games for a 594 series.

Also for BHS, Cody Hullinger games of 201, 191 and 175 for a 567 series, Devin Legge had games of 173, 204 and 189 for a 566 series and Joey Jacobs had games of 233, 162 and 160 for a 555 series. Cale Sterling had a 206 game and Alex Richards had a 191 game.

Ben Logan was led by David Miller with games of 198, 215 and 178 for a 591 series. Josh Wiley had games of 179, 159 and 190 for a 528 series, Logan Wenger had games of 157, 185 and 160 for a 502 series, Kam Newland had games of 143, 173 and 147 for a 463 series and Wes Brown had games of 192 and 182.

Indian Lake’s Tony Carpenter competed as an individual. He recorded 166, 161 and 171 games for a 498 series.
