Book shines at USBC Masters

Russells Point resident Todd Book is having a week to remember at the United States Bowling Congress Masters in New Jersey.

Book on Thursday finished as the number two qualifier with a 15-game total of 3,501. He averaged 233.4 and finished just 17 pins behind top qualifier Wes Malott.

The local bowler advances to today’s three-game, double-elimination match play bracket competition. Bracket play continues into Saturday and the final five surviving bowlers will advance to the finals, which will be televised live at 3 p.m. Sunday on ESPN.

A field of 468 bowlers entered the tournament.
