West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team could not get its offense on track Thursday in a Division III sectional tournament loss to third-seeded Versailles.

Versailles jumped out to a big halftime lead and went on to take a 52-22 victory at Tippecanoe High School.
WL-Salem finishes the season with an 8-15 record.
Versailles took control from the start. It led 13-2 after one quarter and 27-8 at halftime.
It was a tough shooting night for WL-Salem. It made just 8-of-41 shots for a 20-percent effort.
Versailles made 51 percent of its shots and outrebounded WL-Salem 31-16.
Melany Ward led WL-Salem with 12 points and Maria Daulton added five points.
Versailles saw 11 players reach the scoring column. Katie Heckman led the way with a game-high 14 points.
With the win, Versailles advances to play Arcanum in the semifinal round Wednesday at Tippecanoe.
