West Liberty-Salem’s girls basketball team used a strong third quarter to pull out a 53-48 win over visiting Springfield Catholic Central on Saturday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.
The Tigers improve to 8-12 overall and 7-5 in the OHC, while the Irish slip to 4-6, 2-11.
Catholic Central led 17-16 after the opening quarter. The score was then tied 31-31 at halftime.
WL-Salem grabbed the momentum in the third quarter with a 10-4 run. That put the Tigers up 41-35.
The fourth quarter saw the Tigers fight off the Irish for the win.
Jamie Peterson sparked the Tigers with 13 points and Melany Ward tallied 12 points.
WL-Salem travels to Triad on Saturday for a local OHC contest.
