Urbana gets win over Raiders

basketball

Urbana’s boys basketball team proved to be too much for visiting Benjamin Logan on Friday as the Hillclimbers rolled to a 68-46 vicotry in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division action.

The Hillclimbers improve to 13-3 overall and 7-1 in the CBC Mad River division. The Raiders fall to 3-16, 1-7.

“Their pressure really caused us some problems,” said Ben Logan head coach Dave Myers. “We had some turnovers early on, too, and that led to some easy baskets for them. That was a big difference in the game.

“It was similar to the first time we played them and we just couldn’t get on track in the second half. It’s been a tough stretch for us the past few weeks, but hopefully we can change things Tuesday at Stebbins.”

Urbana jumped out to a 15-5 lead after the opening quarter. The Hillcimbers outscored the Raiders 21-13 in the second quarter for a 36-18 advantage at halftime.

The Hillclimbers led 55-32 at the end of the third quarter.

Blaine Ricketts led the Raiders with 16 points and Tanner Rader added 10 points.

Urbana won the junior varsity game 65-35.

Ben Logan travels to Stebbins on Tuesday for a Central Buckeye Conference crossover game.
