basketball

Senior forward Mikaela Oyer did it all for Indian Lake’s girls basketball team Saturday.

Oyer tallied 23 points, 10 rebounds, seven steals and five blocked shots as the host Lakers rolled to a 54-29 victory over Northwestern in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division game.

Indian Lake improves to 8-10 overall and 4-4 in league play. The Warriors drop to 5-12, 1-7.

“Mikaela was outstanding again,” said Indian Lake coach Tim McMahon. “She is our go-to player and she is really responding to that role.”

Indian Lake bolted to a 26-12 halftime lead. The Lakers led by 24 points (44-20) after three quarters.

“I thought we were sleep walking at times in the first half, but we played with more intensity in the second half,” said McMahon. “We took pretty good care of the basketball and did a good job getting the ball inside.”

Claire Maier contributed eight points in the win, Haley Boberg had seven points and Leslie Reichert added six points and 14 rebounds for the Lakers.

In the junior varsity game, Indian Lake won 42-28. Meagan Lonsway led the Lakers with 11 points.
