WL-Salem gets back on track, beats Trojans 53-35

West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team rebounded from two straight losses by beating host Southeastern 53-35 on Friday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.

The Tigers are now 11-4 overall and improve to 8-1 in the OHC. The Trojans fall to 6-6, 4-4.

WL-Salem jumped out to a 16-5 lead after the opening quarter, but Southeastern rallied to outscore the Tigers 13-4 in the second quarter. That left WL-Salem with a 20-18 edge at halftime.

The Tigers regained control of the game in the third quarter with a 15-6 run, which made the score 35-24.

WL-Salem continued to add to its cushion in the final period.

Landon Hormann led the Tigers with 18 points, Travis Mayse tallied 16 points and Max Bailey had 13 points.

In junior varsity action, WL-Salem beat Southeastern 36-29. Ross Kelley led the Tigers with 10 points.

WL-Salem travels to Riverside on Tuesday.
