Raiders jump out to 29-6 lead at halftime, roll to non-league win
An offensive explosion in the first half helped host Benjamin Logan race past Fairbanks 50-36 on Wednesday in a non-league contest.
The win improves the Raiders to 9-7 on the season and the Panthers fall to 4-9.
Ben Logan went on a 15-4 run in the first quarter. They stayed hot with a 14-2 burst in the second quarter to take a 29-6 halftime advantage.
“The girls played really well in the first half,” said Ben Logan head coach Donnie Sosby. “We were able to get a lot of girls involved and we had some balanced scoring.”
The Raiders held a 42-19 lead after three quarters.
The Panthers were able to outscore the Raiders 17-8 in the fourth quarter, but it was not nearly enough to get back into the game.
Ciarra Wirick led the Ben Logan offense with 10 points and Jessica Yoder and Marissa Wilbur each had eight points.
In junior varsity action, Ben Logan rolled to a 44-18 victory over Fairbanks. Holly Parker led the Raiders with eight points.
Ben Logan travels to Graham on Saturday for a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division contest. The varsity game begins at 2:30 p.m.
