In a four-quarter race, West Liberty-Salem’s boys basketball team stumbled just before the finish.
The Tigers held strong for three quarters Tuesday, but did not have much of an answer for visiting Urbana in the final quarter as the Hillclimbers pulled away for a 59-44 non-league victory.
“We panicked in the fourth quarter,” said WL-Salem head coach Aaron Hollar. “I was very disappointed with our effort when it mattered the most.”
WL-Salem (10-4) trailed just 44-38 after the third quarter, but Urbana (8-3) dominated the last period with a 15-6 effort.
