Triad’s boys basketball team held off host Riverside for a 50-40 win Tuesday in a local non-league contest.
The Cardinals are now 6-7 overall and snap the Pirates’ three-game winning streak. The Pirates drop to 4-8.
Triad emerged with a 9-7 edge after the opening quarter and the Cardinals held an eight-point cushion (23-15) advantage at halftime.
Triad pushed its lead to nine points (36-27) at the end of the third quarter and continued to stay in control in the final quarter.
