Cardinal grapplers split in tri-meet

Triad’s wrestling team went 1-1 on Wednesday in a tri-meet against host North Union and Columbus Academy.

The Cardinals defeated Columbus Academy 36-24, but fell to the Wildcats 54-21.

Going 2-0 for Triad were Jacob Thompson (145), Damian Boldman (152), Brendyn Moxley (160) and Rickey Bruce (182).

Boldman had a pin and a technical fall, while Thompson, Moxley and Bruce each had one pin.

Earning one win were Andrew Zirkle (132), David Keeran (138) and Joden McClanahan (170).

Triad competes in the Tri-County North Invitational on Saturday.
