It is turning into the greatest rivalry in college wrestling, maybe all of wrestling.
Cornell’s Kyle Dake and Penn State’s David Taylor have become the sport’s biggest topic this season and they are making history every time they step on the mat.
Dake is a senior three-time national champion and the top-ranked wrestler in the country at 165 pounds. He has bumped up a weight class after winning a national title at 157 last year.
Taylor is a redshirt junior and is ranked second at 165 pounds. He was national runner-up in 2011 as a freshman and won a 165-pound national title last March as a sophomore.
There was speculation after last season that the two might be at the same weight class this season, but few thought it would actually happen.
Well, it did happen. Dake vs. Taylor has already been billed as the Match of the Century.
