Madison Christian’s girls basketball team picked up a 77-57 win over host Ridgemont on Thursday in non-league action.
The Gophers remain winless at 0-9 on the season, while the Eagles improved to 4-5.
“I was very pleased with how we played on offense,” said Ridgemont head coach Jeff Merklin. “We attacked the rim, only had eight turnovers and had 25 attempts from the foul line.
“The girls are starting to get a little more confidence in themselves and are understanding how I want the game played when we have the ball. I was very happy with junior Blaize Billenstein, who scored 13 points and ran the offense very well.”
Madison Christian led 20-14 after the opening quarter and outscored Ridgemont 26-11 in the second quarter. That gave the Eagles a 46-25 edge at halftime.
Aislinn McCullough led Ridgemont with 24 points and Chelsea Zachman added 14 points.
Ridgemont travels to Riverside on Thursday for a local Northwest Central Conference matchup.
