Triad throttles Cedarville

Triad’s girls basketball team took control from the opening whistle Monday against visiting Cedarville en route to a 75-23 Ohio Heritage Conference victory.

The win boosts the Cardinals to a 3-2 overall record and a 2-1 mark in the OHC. The Indians fall to 1-5, 1-2.

Triad made a statement in the first quarter by outscoring Cedarville 28-1. The Cardinals added a 16-10 effort in the second quarter to take a 44-11 lead at halftime.

The second half also was dominated by Triad, which overwhelmed Cedarville 31-12 over the final two quarters.

Faith Orecchio powered Triad’s offense with 20 points, Courtney Simonelli had 16 points and Jenna Welty had 11 points.

There was no junior varsity contest.

Triad hosts Benjamin Logan on Wednesday in a local non-league contest.
