Indian Lake led for most of the game, but not when it really counted Thursday night.
Host Botkins outscored the Lakers 22-13 in the fourth quarter for a 54-48 come-from-behind victory in a non-league girls basketball game.
Indian Lake falls to 2-2 on the season.
“We missed some easy shots and then we fouled a lot,” said Indian Lake head coach Tim McMahon of what transpired in the fourth quarter. “They did a good job of making their foul shots. They were 14-of-16 at the foul line in the fourth quarter.”
Indian Lake led 18-10 after one quarter and the Lakers held a 25-20 advantage at halftime.
The Lakers still led (35-32) after three periods, but Botkins then came up big over the final eight minutes to rally for the win.
“We led for 90 percent of the game, but we just couldn’t get it done at the end,” said McMahon.
Leslie Reichert and Mikaela Oyer each had 11 points to lead the Lakers. Claire Maier had nine points and eight rebounds, Haley Boberg scored seven points and Sydney Miller added six points and five steals.
In the junior varsity game, Botkins won 46-40.
Indian Lake returns to action Monday at Kenton.
