Visiting North Union pulled away from Benjamin Logan in the fourth quarter for a 56-43 victory in the Raiders’ season opener Saturday night.

The Wildcats led by four points (40-36) after three periods before outscoring the Raiders 16-7 in the final stanza.

“North Union is a very good team,” said Ben Logan head coach Donnie Sosby. “Our girls played hard. We were only down by four going into the fourth quarter, but we kind of hit a wall. We missed some easy shots and things started to snowball.”

Ben Logan led 23-22 at halftime.

“Turnovers were the difference in the game,” said Sosby. “We had 17 turnovers at halftime and still had a one-point lead. We finished with 27 and you are not going to beat many teams when you commit that many turnovers.”

Jessica Yoder led the Raiders with 13 points, while Ciarra Wirick had 12 points. Domonique Johnson added nine points.

Wirick also recorded nine rebounds and three steals.

In the junior varsity game, Ben Logan won 25-18. Shelby Kramer led the Raiders with 10 points.

Ben Logan plays at Greenon tonight.
