After three previous races at the Division III state cross country meet, there is only one finish West Liberty-Salem’s girls will be satisfied with for its final race — first.
Powered by a talented senior group, the Tigers have finished fifth in 2009, fourth in 2010 and third last season.
“Their goal is to win state this time,” said WL-Salem head coach Ann Vogel. “That has been their goal since they were in middle school. It takes a lot of courage to publicly say that that is your goal because the chances of doing that are so small.”
