The anticipation has been building for weeks, and now it is finally here.
West Liberty-Salem hosts Triad on Friday at 7:30 p.m. to decide the Ohio Heritage Conference championship in a Week 10 showdown that promises nothing short of fireworks.
Friday’s matchup is nearly identical to last fall when the Tigers beat the Cardinals in the final week of the season to win the league title and wrap up a perfect regular season.
A win would give WL-Salem (9-0, 6-0) the OHC crown and a second straight 10-0 campaign.
Triad, riding an eight-game winning streak, would be league champions with a win and the Cardinals (8-1, 6-0) would also lock up a playoff berth.
“This is a game where the kids on both sides understand what is at stake,” said WL-Salem head coach Toby Smith. “At the same time, though, we would be very excited to play against Triad even if we had nothing on the line. I won’t have to do much to get them motivated for this game.”
