Urbana pulls away from Ben Logan

Despite a gritty effort by Benjamin Logan’s football team, host Urbana ran away in the second half for a 41-20 victory Friday in Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division action.

The Hillclimbers boost their record to 6-1 overall and 2-0 in the CBC Mad River division, while the Raiders fall to 2-5, 0-2.

Urbana sophomore standout quarterback Nathan Mays threw for 274 yards on 12 completions and had three touchdowns as the Hillclimbers’ offense tallied 464 total yards.

It was a defensive battle in the first half as Urbana led by just eight points (14-6) at halftime.

Mays threw a 44-yard TD pass in the first quarter to give the Hillclimbers a 7-0 lead.

In the second quarter, Ben Logan quarterback Mac Horton had a 1-yard touchdown run. The extra-point attempt missed as the Raiders trailed 7-6.

Mays then threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to give Urbana a 14-6 lead at the break.

Urbana running back Tanner Lawrence had a 24-yard TD run in the third quarter. That gave his squad a 21-6 advantage.

Mays continued to shine as he connected with one of his receivers for a 78-yard TD pass. That put the Hillclimbers on top 28-6.

Horton had another 1-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. The extra-point attempt failed, making the score 28-12.

The fourth quarter saw Horton rip off an 18-yard TD run. Brady Bechtel added the two-point conversion run, but the Raiders still trailed 28-20.

Urbana pulled away late in the fourth quarter with two more touchdowns. Lawrence had a 9-yard touchdown run and Shane Ware tacked on a 13-yard touchdown run for the Hillcimbers.

Ben Logan’s Jeremy Brisson ended the game with 146 rushing yards, Bechtel had 84 rushing yards and Horton chipped in 41 rushing yards.

Defensively for BL, Tanner Penwell had nine tackles, Brent Weiss, Kyle Ackley and Todd Coleman each had seven tackles and Anthoni Roberts had an interception.
