Indian Lake works over Graham in second half

A second-half surge helped send Indian Lake’s football team past visiting Graham 35-6 on Friday in a Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division contest.

The Lakers even their record to 3-3 overall and are 1-0 in the CBC Mad River division. The Falcons remain winless at 0-6, 0-1.

Indian Lake led just 14-6 at halftime, but posted nearly 250 yards of offense and scored three touchdowns in the second half to put away the Falcons. The Lakers finished the game with 400 yards of total offense.

Graham’s only score of the game came in the first quarter when Nick Theodore scored on a 37-yard TD run. The extra-point attempt missed, leaving the Falcons up 6-0 with 5:11 to play in the first period.

That lead held up for most of the second quarter until Indian Lake rallied to score two touchdowns in a span of 30 seconds.

Indian Lake’s Jalon Tuttle broke free for a 14-yard touchdown run with 56 seconds until halftime. That put the Lakers ahead 7-6.

Graham fumbled on its next possession and Indian Lake’s Cody Winegardner recovered the ball. That set up a 15-yard TD pass from Christian Grider to Brennon Lump with 30 seconds left until the break, giving the Lakers a 14-6 lead at halftime.

In the third quarter, L.J. Henderson punched in a 3-yard touchdown run to give Indian Lake a 21-6 advantage.

The Lakers sealed the win with two more touchdowns in the fourth quarter. Chris Teague bulldozed his way into the end zone on a 6-yard run and Cole Merritt broke free for a 49-yard TD dance.

Tuttle sparked the Lakers’ offense. He was 6-of-9 passing for 100 yards and had 49 rushing yards and a score. Henderson tallied 86 rushing yards, while Teague and Reichert each had over 40 yards receiving.

Indian Lake travels to Northwestern on Friday for CBC Mad River division action.
