Indian Lake’s girls golf team made the most of playing on its home course Thursday as the Lakers won their first ever Central Buckeye Conference championship at Cherokee Hills Golf Course.

The Lakers won the CBC Mad River division for the first time in the program’s history.
Junior Morgan Barnett fired an 88 to lead the Lakers and was named the CBC Mad River division player of the year.
Also for Indian Lake, Sean Pusey was one stroke behind with an 89, Kylie Speicher carded a 94, Ashley Wall shot a 112 and Murphy Oberle added a 129.
Benjamin Logan’s girls finished second in the Mad River division with a score of 398.
Domonique Johnson fired an 89 to pace the Raiders, Morgan Fultz shot a 99, Madison Leis carded a 103, Mary Kerns had a 107 and Jessie Dodson had a 120.
“All five ladies received well-deserved recognition during the (all-league) ceremony,” said Ben Logan girls head coach Tiann Harner. “The girls should be very proud.”
Bellefontaine’s girls competed in the Kenton Trail division and recorded a team score of 429.
The Chieftains were led by Chelsea McLaughlin with a 91, Allie Skelly carded a 101, Sarah Hall had a 116, Kathleen Coakley shot a 121, Lisha Taitt had a 128 and Laryn Newman recorded a 143.
The team scores for the rest of the schools were not available at press time.
The all-CBC team was selected after the meet Thursday. More information on the all-league team will be included in a later edition of the Examiner.
All three teams now turn their focus to the sectional tournament. Ben Logan competes in the Division II tournament Monday at WGC in Xenia, while Indian Lake travels to Stillwater Golf Course in Versailles on Wednesday. Bellefontaine does not compete until Tuesday, Oct. 2, in the Division I sectional tourney at Beavercreek Golf Club.
