The win improves the Chieftains to 3-1-1 overall and 2-0-1 in the CBC, while the Raiders drop to 2-4, 0-3.
“I was really impressed with our control of the ball,” said BHS boys head coach Steven Henry. “We wanted to possess it more and we did a decent job of that. Our forwards played with a lot of fire and that always helps the rest of the team get going.
“Coach (Jamie) Hughes’ teams have really played us tough over the last several years, so we knew that it would be a battle from the start. Our seniors were up to the challenge and I am proud of how they responded against a rival like this.”
Bellefontaine controlled most of the first half and scored late on a solo shot by Josh Neighoff, which gave the Chiefs a 1-0 edge at halftime.
Neighoff gave BHS a 2-0 advantage after scoring 10 minutes into the second half. Carlos Guajardo added a third goal minutes later off an assist from Ethan Tullis. That put Bellefontaine on top 3-0.
