Lakers, Barnett set school records vs. Urbana



It was a record-setting night for Indian Lake’s girls golf team Thursday as it dropped visiting Urbana 175-209 in Central Buckeye Conference action at Cherokee Hills Golf Course.

The team’s 175 is a new nine-hole school record for the Lakers, while junior Morgan Barnett fired a round of 38 to set a new school record for nine holes.

Also for the Lakers, Sean Pusey carded a 42, Kylie Speicher shot a 44, Ashley Wall had a 51, Murphy Oberle finished with a 52 and Meliesha Hengsteler added a 60.

Indian Lake travels to Benjamin Logan on Monday for a local CBC matchup at Tree Links Golf Course.

Ben Logan wins tri-match

Benjamin Logan’s girls golf team picked up wins over Miami East and host Springfield Catholic Central on Thursday in non-league action.

The Raiders won with 188, the Irish were a close second with 189 and the Vikings were third with 196.

The win improves the Raiders to 5-4 on the season.

Domonique Johnson led Ben Logan with a 44, Morgan Fultz was one stroke back with a 45, Madison Leis carded a 49, Jessie Dodson had a 50 and Mary Kerns had a 51.

Bellefontaine zaps Riverside

Bellefontaine’s girls golf team earned a 202-221 victory over visiting Riverside on Thursday in a local non-league match at Liberty Hills Golf Club.

Chelsea McLaughlin led the Chieftains with a 45, Allie Skelley had a 49, Sarah Hall carded a 51, Kathleen Coakley shot a 57, Laryn Newman had a 58 and Lisha Tate had a 59.

The Pirates were led by Heather Comer, who was match medalist with a 38, while Destany Jones had a 49, Bailey Leonard shot a 63 and Katy Piras had a 71.

Bellefontaine hosts Northeastern on Monday and Riverside hosts Ridgedale.


Raiders sink Lakers

Benjamin Logan’s boys golf team defeated visiting Indian Lake 149-185 on Thursday in a local Central Buckeye Conference match at Tree Links Golf Course.

Blaine Ricketts fired a personal best for the Raiders and earned match medalist honor with a low round of 33.

Also aiding in the win were Grant Ricketts with a 37, Ed Kenoyer with a 39 and Cole Saylor with a 40.

Randall Henson sparked the Lakers with a 44, Jake Frost fired a 45 and Caleb Meadows and Quenten Staley each posted 48s.

Ben Logan’s junior varsity team was also in action and defeated Riverside’s varsity squad 188-224.

John Hardin led the Raiders with a 44, Garrett Dunn had a 46 and T.J. Fink and Logan Wenger both added 49s.

For the Pirates, Landon Kelsey paced the team with a 49, Grant Miller had a 50, Dustin Proffitt carded a 56, Wyatt McBrien had a 65 and Ross Stevens added a 66.

Ben Logan is back in action Saturday at the Springfield Shawnee Invitational. Indian Lake hosts Graham on Monday and Riverside hosts Calvary Christian and Jackson Center in a tri-match.

Chieftains down Stebbins

Bellefontaine’s boys golf team battled past visiting Stebbins for a 160-177 win Thursday in Central Buckeye Conference action at Liberty Hills Golf Club.

Cody Lyons fired a 37 to earn medalist honors for the Chiefs. Others aiding in the win were Travis Fowler with a 39, Jarrett Beck with a 41, Cody Hullinger with a 43, Landyn Butler with a 47 and Nate Langenfeld with a 52.

In junior varsity action, Bellefontaine edged Stebbins 216-217.

Devin Fowler was medalist with a 46, Colton DeMent had a 49, Derek Markley shot a 56 and Ryan Penny had a 65.

Bellefontaine travels to Kenton Ridge on Tuesday in CBC action.

WL-Salem defeats Southeastern

West Liberty-Salem’s boys golf team cruised past visiting Southeastern 162-207 in an Ohio Heritage Conference match at Liberty Hills Golf Club.

The Tigers are now 8-2 in OHC play.

“This has been an important week for us as we have built some consistency,” said WL-Salem head coach Darrin Leichty. “We were more consistent because we rebounded after poor shots.”

Nick Sims was match medalist for the Tigers with a low of 36, while Jacob Rutan fired a 38.

Also for WL-Salem, Ethan McBean carded a 43, Casey Gay had a 45, Matt Kauffman had a 48 and Zach Smith added a 54.

The Tigers travel to the Springfield Shawnee Invitational on Saturday.

SCC tops Triad

Springfield Catholic Central’s boys golf team defeated host Triad 198-230 on Thursday in an Ohio Heritage Conference match at Woodland Golf Club.

Seth Donohoe led the Cardinals with a 45, Ryan Kaylor had a 51 and Summer Detrick carded a 58.

Triad travels to Cedarville on Tuesday in OHC action.

W-Goshen tames Spartans

Waynesfield-Goshen’s boys golf team dropped visiting Calvary Christian 224-262 Thursday at Prairie View Golf Course.

Luke Olsen led the Spartans with a 60, Austin Durnell carded a 65 and Peter Kratz shot a 67.

Calvary Christian travels to Riverside on Monday for a tri-match at Cherokee Hills Golf Course.
