Fairlawn defeated Riverside 25-9, 26-24, 25-16 in a varsity volleyball match Saturday.
The Pirates are now 1-3 on the season.
“We lost the match, but I am very pleased with the effort we gave in sets 2 and 3,” said Riverside head coach Wendy Cromer. “Brooke Hickey played some great defense and the team fed off of her effort. It’s great to see when something clicks and a kid starts to understand the game. Brooke had one of those days. She and the rest of the team are just going to keep getting better. Attitude and confidence is the key.”
Hickey recorded four digs, three kills and five assists to spark the Pirates.
Also for Riverside, Samantha Egbert tallied four points, two aces and nine assists, Kerri Meade had five kills, one solo block and one ace and Jessica Davis had one solo block and two block assists.
Riverside hosts Indian Lake tonight.
