Ridgemont off to 2-0 start after beating Crestline

After waiting more than a decade to get a win in its season opener, Ridgemont’s football team jumped right back into the win column Friday.

The Gophers are off to a 2-0 start after racing past host Crestline for a 48-14 win on Friday in non-league action.

Ridgemont piled up 557 yards of total offense and had 425 rushing yards.

In the first quarter, Gophers quarterback Tyler Tillman had a 1-yard touchdown run for the team’s first score, but the extra-point attempt failed.

Crestline scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to tie the game 14-14. Ridgemont was unable to find the end zone and the game remained tied at halftime.

Tillman and Cowan were big for the Gophers in the third quarter as Tillman found his receiver for three passing touchdowns.

Tillman threw a 10-yard TD pass to Cowan, and then the two connected again for a two-point conversion pass. Tillman found Cowan for a 12-yard touchdown strike, but the two-point conversion failed. The final score came on a 57-yard pass to Cowan and the two-point conversion failed again.

Those scores boosted Ridgemont’s lead to 34-14.
