WHAT TO WATCH FOR:
The focus this week is on the Bellefontaine defense. The Chiefs have lost four defensive starters and they face a Sidney offense that has some playmakers.
The last two seasons have been extremely forgettable for the Sidney football program.
The Yellow Jackets went winless in both the 2010 and 2011 campaigns and entered this season with a 20-game losing streak.
There is suddenly a renewed sense of hope for the Yellow Jackets after they knocked off rival St. Marys 10-7 in overtime last week to end their drought. Andre Spillers booted a 30-yard field goal in the extra period to give the Yellow Jackets the win.
Bellefontaine will try to take away Sidney’s momentum Friday when the two teams meet on the Yellow Jackets’ home field.
“We are planning on playing a team that has a lot of energy,” said Bellefontaine head coach Chris Schmidt. “They went on the road and got a big win last week. Now they are coming home and I’m sure they will be excited and confident.”
