Benjamin Logan opens CBC play with win over Knights



Benjamin Logan’s volleyball team swept visiting Greenon in three sets 25-15, 25-15, 25-11 on Tuesday in its first Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division contest.

The Raiders improve to 4-0 overall and are 1-0 in the CBC Mad River.

Alex Thompson led Ben Logan with 10 kills and five aces, Kylee Smith had nine kills and 11 points and Ciarra Wirick had eight kills, four blocks and three aces.

In junior varsity action, Ben Logan beat Greenon 25-5, 25-12 and improve to 4-0. Jessica Rutan had 18 points, 10 aces and four kills and Tayler Rose recorded 10 assists.

Ben Logan travels to Indian Lake on Thursday for a local CBC matchup.

Indian Lake topples Northwestern

Indian Lake’s volleyball team handled host Northwestern 25-20, 25-10, 25-14 on Tuesday in Central Buckeye Conference action.

Ashton Faler had five aces, Sydney Miller led the defense with seven digs and Brooke Defibaugh stood out on serves received for the Lakers.

The Lakers also won the junior varsity match 6-25, 25-16, 25-20.

Indian Lake hosts Benjamin Logan on Thursday in CBC action.

Braves turn away Chiefs

Bellefontaine’s volleyball team was defeated by visiting Springfield Shawnee 25-19, 28-26, 25-17 in Central Buckeye Conference action Tuesday.

The Chiefs are now 2-1 overall and 0-1 in the CBC.

For BHS, Jaelyn Jester was 11-11 serving and 92-93 setting with 24 assists, Jessica Kinchen had 14 digs and 12 kills and Shelbi Kauffman had 15 digs.

The junior varsity Chiefs won 17-25, 25-16, 25-17 and the freshman team lost 25-22, 25-18.

Bellefontaine plays at Stebbins on Thursday.

SCC downs WL-Salem

Springfield Catholic Central’s volleyball team dropped visiting West Liberty-Salem 25-19, 26-24, 25-23 on Tuesday in Ohio Heritage Conference action.

The Tigers are now 1-2 on the season.

For the Tigers, Autumn Klinger had 12 assists, nine digs and six kills, Megan Etgen had 16 digs, Rachel Loffing and Kylee Hormann each had five kills, Jamie Peterson had nine kills and two aces and Courtney Milliron had 14 digs and two aces.

In junior varsity action, Catholic Central won in two sets.

WL-Salem travels to Triad on Thursday in a local OHC contest.

Triad gets win over Rams

Triad’s volleyball team made quick work of host Greeneview on Tuesday by winning 25-22, 25-20, 25-22 in an Ohio Heritage Conference match.

The Cardinals are now 2-1 overall and 1-0 in the OHC.

Dayna Ober led Triad with 13 points, eight kills, two blocks and seven digs. Also for the Cards, Maddi Ehrenborg had 21 points, three aces and seven digs, Jenna Welty had 10 points, one ace and four kills, Hannah Watkins had 11 points, two aces and 12 assists, Anna McKenize had 10 points, three aces and two assists and Jenna Ober added 10 points.

In junior varsity action, Triad won 25-14, 23-25, 25-21. Lydia Walls led the Cardinals with seven aces and three assists, Sabrina Thompson had three aces and three kills and Georgia Davis had three aces and two kills.

North Union trips Gophers

North Union defeated Ridgemont 25-18, 25-23, 25-13 in a non-league volleyball match Monday.

For the Gophers, Whitney Arseneau was 10-11 setting and 12-18 on serves received, Sydney Arseneau had two aces on 10-10 serving, Toshia VanBuskirk had three kills and three digs, Sam Hardin was 22-23 setting and was 5-6 serving with two aces, Logan Hill was 4-4 serving with one ace, Amber Creviston was 18-19 serving with one ace and Riley Drumm had five digs.

The junior varsity Gophers were defeated 25-7, 25-7.
