Indian Lake boys soccer team falls short against New Knoxville


New Knoxville’s boys soccer team held on for a 4-2 win over Indian Lake Monday in a non-league matchup.

The Lakers are now 2-2 overall.

New Knoxville took a 3-1 lead at halftime.

“New Knoxville played a great game,” said Indian Lake boys head coach Jon Shoffstall. “We were able to get the game to within one goal in the second half, but we were unable to get the equalizer. Tonight showed us that we need to have great effort every night. My guys are competitors and we will be ready to go when we open up league play versus Springfield Shawnee on Wednesday.”

Scoring for Indian Lake were Connor Davis and Tony Carpenter.

New Knoxville had 18 shots and 11 shots on goal, while Indian Lake had 15 shots and 11 shots on goal.

Defensively, Tyler Rode had five saves and Elijah Knief had three saves.

Indian Lake travels to Springfield Shawnee on Wednesday in Central Buckeye Conference action.
