Tigers prevail in shootout with Knights

Visiting West Liberty-Salem rolled up 428 yards of offense en route to a 62-35 victory over Greenon in a wild season opener.

The Tigers led 42-21 at halftime and then outscored the Knight 20-14 in the second half.

Senior quarter Riley Sims tallied 264 yards of offense and accounted for four touchdowns to fuel the Tigers’ high flying offense. He ran for 154 yards on 19 carries and threw for an additional 110 yards.

Taylor Cordell contributed 118 yards on 14 carries for the Tigers.

WL-Salem began the game in impressive fashion as Jake Ortman took the opening kick back for a 78-yard touchdown.
