Central Buckeye Conference powerhouse Tippecanoe defeated visiting Bellefontaine 4-1 in girls tennis action Thursday.
Bellefontaine falls to 2-3 overall and 1-2 in the CBC, while the Red Devils improve to 4-0, 2-0.
“I thought our kids did a pretty good job,” said BHS head coach Jim Stein. “We did a pretty good job competing. They are a tough team.”
The Chiefs’ win came from third singles. Madeline Houser knocked off Mallory Reynolds 6-4, 5-7, 6-2.
Tippecanoe’s Sierra Nellessen defeated Kenzie Collinsworth 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, while the Red Devils’ Taylor Sutton won 6-3, 6-1 over Kiersten Daum at second singles.
In doubles play, Tippecanoe’s Katie Stenger and Nadia Mahan won 6-2, 6-1 over Hannah Weimer and Michelle Frantz at first doubles and Katie Gross and Miv Tanaka took a 6-0, 6-0 win over the Chiefs’ Kylee Jenkins and Ashley Enderle at second doubles.
Bellefontaine’s Brandy Cole played a reserve singles match and fell 6-0, 6-0.
Bellefontaine returns to action Saturday in the Schroder Invitational in Tipp City.
