Bellefontaine’s boys golf team saw its season come to an end Wednesday at the Division I sectional tournament at Reid Park in Springfield.
The Chiefs were unable to advance any of their golfers to the district tournament. The top four teams and the remaining four lowest individuals moved on to district.
Wilmington won the tournament with a 326, Beavercreek was second with a 328, Tecumseh took third with a 332 and Troy was fourth with a 335.
The four individual qualifiers were Carroll’s Nick Seitz (75), Sidney’s Calvin Milligan (77), Tippecanoe’s Austin Hadden (80) and Stebbins’ John Anderson (80).
The Chiefs finished 11th with a 374.
BHS was led by Cody Lyons with an 87. He was followed by Travis Fowler with a 92, Cody Hullinger with a 96, Ryan Rogan with a 99 and Trent Nicholl with a 105.
Bellefontaine finishes the season with an overall record of 54-53.
“We started out the year with some success and were growing, playing well,” said BHS head coach Ryan Sawmiller. “Our scores were not where they needed to be to compete in our conference at the beginning. The team continued to get better and played some very competitive head-to-head matches with Kenton Ridge this year, which was the best team overall in the CBC and has a great chance of qualifying and maybe competing for a state title in Division II. We need to continue to get better and rebound for next season as a team and not as individuals. We have everybody back next year, losing none to graduation.”
