Rams stave off Chiefs’ comeback

Bellefontaine’s girls basketball team was unable to erase an early 15-point deficit Monday as the Chiefs fell to host Upper Scioto Valley 50-44 in non-league action.

Bellefontaine is now 5-12, while USV improves to 12-4.

The Chiefs trailed 24-9 at the end of the first quarter.

Bellefontaine fought back, outscoring the Rams 9-7 in the second quarter and 16-7 in the third quarter to climb within four points (38-34) after three quarters.

Upper Scioto Valley edged the Chiefs 12-10 in the fourth quarter to hang on for the win.

Jazmyn Haley led the Chiefs with 19 points. Regan Price had nine points and Aaliyah Smith chipped in five points.

Bellefontaine is back in action Saturday at home against Stebbins.
