Indian Lake’s football team came away with a big win just in time.
After three stinging losses, the Lakers grabbed a victory last Saturday over rival Bellefontaine and hope to carry that momentum into Friday’s contest when they host Graham to begin Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division play.
Indian Lake (2-3) rallied in the final minutes of last week’s game to edge Bellefontaine 28-24. The win snapped a three-game losing streak.
“We’re hoping that last week’s win gives us a shot in the arm from a mental standpoint,” said Indian Lake head coach Dave Coburn. “Going into league play we want to create as much positive energy as we can. Hopefully, that win over Bellefontaine was the boost we needed as we begin league play.”
While Coburn and the Lakers are glad to get back in the win column, he still wants to see some big improvements on the field starting Friday.
“We feel we need to be more consistent,” said Coburn. “We’re getting the hard work and the effort. Now, we just need consistency as far as executing goes. We’ll need our best effort on offense and defense this week.”
