Indian Lake girls blitz Warriors 76-28 Little went wrong for Indian Lakes girls basketball team Friday as it rolled to a 76-28 win over visiting Northwestern in a Central Buckeye Conference game. The Lakers remain perfect at 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the CBC, while the Warriors fall to 0-5, 0-2. Indian Lake head coach Mike Pequignot was pleased with how his girls never lost focus during the game. It was a great overall team effort, said Pequignot. I was real pleased with the mental approach the girls had coming into the game. We went out in the first quarter and gained the momentum early and played with a lot of confidence. Indian Lakes offense had three players reach double digits in Sadie Oyer, Cori Blackburn and Ashley Oakley. Oyer led the charge with 23 points and six rebounds, Blackburn scored 16 points and had six steals and Ashley Oakley added 11 points and six steals. This was the third game in a row we have had a lot of girls contribute, said Pequignot. It is great to see the balanced scoring. It was nice to see Cori come in and step up for us like she did. The Warriors were plagued by 37 turnovers. Indian Lake raced to a 23-4 lead after the opening quarter. The Lakers led 40-15 at halftime and never looked back. Chelsea Ball scored nine points and Aubrey Arledge chipped in with eight for the Lakers. The Lakers junior varsity team rolled to a 31-18 win over Northwestern. Kindra Sheeley led Indian Lake with nine points. Indian Lake travels Thursday to Stebbins in a nonleague contest. |
