The Lakers are 1-0 overall and 1-0 in the CBC. The Arrows fall to 0-1, 0-1. Indian Lakes shooting and rebounding played big roles in Tuesdays win. The Lakers made 11 three-point shots and outrebounded the Arrows 39-22. I was real pleased with how the girls came out and played for us, said IL head coach Mike Pequignot. We established ourselves at the defensive end and I thought we rebounded really well. With many new players filling varsity roles, Pequignot was pleased to see several players step up. Laura Blust sparked the Lakers with 16 points, including five three pointers. Blust also had seven rebounds. Sadie Oyer added 14 points and seven rebounds, while Katie Harvey chipped in with 11 points. It was great to see the balanced scoring, said Pequignot. It was a total team effort. Everyone chipped in and played well. It was also nice to see Katie Harvey come in off the bench and give us a spark. Indian Lake raced out of the gate to a 12-2 first-quarter lead. The Lakers went on to outscore the Arrows in the second quarter 17-10. The Lakers continued to stretch their lead over the final two quarters.
