Indian Lake girls soccer team falls to Bethel 5-2 The Indian Lake girls soccer team came up short in Division II sectional tournament action Thursday as the Lakers fell 5-2 to host Bethel. The Lakers finish the season at 9-8-1 overall. They also finished 5-5-1 in the Central Buckeye Conference. Both marks are school bests for an Indian Lake soccer team. Michelle Herren and Katie Harvey led Indian Lake’s efforts with one goal each. Herren scored 20 seconds into the first half for a 1-0 lead. But the Bees tied the game at 1-1 by halftime. The Lakers’ Harvey scored a goal in the second half on an assist from Herren, but Bethel tacked on four more goals to secure the win. Herren finished the season with 31 goals and 15 assists. Andrea Boitnott had nine saves in goal for the Lakers. “The girls played hard,” said IL head coach Scott Cramer. “We just could not get anything going. I knew going into this game it would be difficult, especially with some of our players banged up and not at 100 percent. “Unfortunately, we came up on the short end. But we have had a great season and look forward to building off our success this year for years to come.” Bethel advances to face Graham on Monday at Northmont High School in the sectional final. |
