Indian Lake clinches share of title Indian Lake head volleyball coach Mandy Tidwell and her Lakers could write a lesson on how to rebuild a team. The Lakers graduated most of last years squad that won a sectional title. However, that did not keep the Lakers from continuing their success this fall. With a three-game win over visiting Benjamin Logan on Thursday, the Lakers earned a share of the Central Buckeye Conference Mad River division title. The Lakers finished 9-1 in league play to tie with Urbana, which also went 9-1. Indian Lake ends the regular season with an impressive overall record of 17-5. I am so proud of these girls, said Tidwell. After losing so many players from last years team, these girls had a lot to prove. But they came out and improved a lot throughout the season. They have had a great year. Tidwell said it has been a collective effort this season. Everyone produces in every match, said Tidwell. That is definitely a key for us. Yes, we have some standout players. But we also have some excellent role players that do their job every match. Ben Logan finishes the regular season at 12-10 overall and 6-4 in league play. The Raiders were in control early in Thursdays match as they led 19-9 in the first game. But the Lakers came all the way back to win the game 25-23. With the momentum firmly on its side,Indian Lake took game two 25-13 and closed out the match with a 25-19 victory in game three. We started off very slow, said Tidwell. But the girls really picked it up and once we won that first game, we had the momentum and we kept rolling with it in games two and three. As she has been all season, sophomore middle hitter Sadie Oyer was a force at the net for the Lakers. Oyer tallied 16 kills on 35-38 hitting and also recorded 12 digs and seven stuff blocks. Devin Grandi, who recently returned from an injury, had a stellar match as well for Indian Lake. Grandi registered 14 kills on 23-24 hitting and had 10 digs. Also contributing for the Lakers were Sabine Berkemeyer (five kills), Cori Blackburn (six digs), Sara Tevis (two aces, eight digs, 10-11 serves received), Kirsten Brademeyer (14-14 serving, 17 assists on 43- 43 setting, 12 digs), Brooke Walton (19-20 serving, 20 assists on 52-52 setting), Tonya Haley (four digs), Kaylee Clark (four kills), Jessica Lininger (7- 7 serves received, nine digs) and Lauren Brademeyer (nine digs). For the Raiders, Keri Stafford had eight kills and 21 digs and Chelsey Ramsey recorded seven kills, three aces on 12-12 serving and two stuff blocks to lead the way. Also for Ben Logan, Tiffany Rader was 82-82 setting with 18 assists, Bailey Kerns had five kills, Natashia Inskeep tallied two stuff blocks and Lauren Anderson was 26-28 on serves received and had 22 digs. In the reserve match, Indian Lake won 25-22, 24-26, 25- 19. Breanna Lump had eight kills and 18 digs and Emily Watkins added eight kills for the Lakers. Denay Schneider had eight kills, Sarah Yoder tallied seven kills and Samantha Terrill registered 30 digs for Ben Logan.
