West Liberty tops Indian Lake

West Liberty-Salem defeated Indian Lake 5-3 in the loser’s bracket final of the Acme sectional tournament Monday night at Blue Jacket Park.

WL-Salem advances to tonight’s sectional title game against host Bellefontaine at 6 p.m. Because WL-Salem is coming out of the loser’s bracket, it must defeat Bellefontaine twice to win the title. A second game, if necessary, is at 8:30 p.m. tonight.

Indian Lake won over Ben Logan 7-6 in eight innings in the first game Monday. That win sent Indian Lake into the matchup with WL-Salem for a spot in the sectional championship game.

Brock Bahan sparked WL-Salem in its victory. Bahan recorded eight strikeouts on the mound as he went the distance to get the win. At the plate, Bahan had a double and two RBI.

Also for WL-Salem’s offense, Canaan Thornburg had two RBI and Garrett Dallas was 2-4.

For Indian Lake, Matt Johnson was 2-3 with a triple, Jacob Bickham was 2-3 with a double and Travis Francis chipped in a pair of hits.

Individual stats for the Indian Lake-Ben Logan game were not reported.
