If anyone had not yet noticed what Indian Lake’s softball team is doing this season, they likely will know now.

The Lakers continued their tremendous season with a signature win Thursday, beating state-ranked and perennial power Kenton Ridge 3-1 in a Central Buckeye Conference softball game in Springfield.

Indian Lake is now 17-3 overall and 10-2 in the CBC. Kenton Ridge, ranked fourth in the latest Division II state poll, drops to 14-5, 9-3.

“This was a nice win to get against a solid Kenton Ridge team,” said Indian Lake head coach Scott Cramer. “This was one of our best defensive games of the year. It was nice to see the girls step up and make things happen.”

Jill Wildermuth kept Kenton Ridge’s potent bats quiet. The Cougars had just three hits and struck out five times against the Lakers’ pitcher.

Kenton Ridge’s lone run came on an inside-the-park home run in the third inning.
After Kenton Ridge scored its run in the third inning, Indian Lake scored twice in the top of the fifth frame to take a 2-1 lead.

Indian Lake then added an insurance run in the top of the seventh.

The Lakers finished with six hits on the day.

Alain Pummell went 2-3 with a double and scored two runs to spark Indian Lake’s offense. Jessica Lininger and Michelle Herren each added a hit and RBI for the Lakers.

Indian Lake is back in action tonight at home against Jackson Center.
