Indian Lake district ranks second from botton in state salary ranking

Indian Lake Local School District has the second lowest salary rate in Ohio for teachers with master’s degrees prior to longevity steps, according to a publication of the Ohio Education Association.

Ohio Schools reports in its August issue that Indian Lake’s $40,863 salary rate is second lowest only to Southern Local District in Meigs County at $39,357 for that level.

Ridgemont Local ranks 14th in the level at $46,604, while Upper Scioto Valley Local District ranks 25th in the category with a $48,282 salary.

The USV district also ranks 14th in the bottom base salaries at $25,668 and eighth in the bottom career rate — the salary for teachers with a master’s degree and 11 years’ experience — at $43,148.

The top base rate in the state is Beachwood City at $43,042. Beachwood also is tops in the career rate at $74,877. The top in the master’s maximum level is Rocky River City with a salary of $87,186.

Southern Local also has the lowest base rate at $21,865 and the lowest career rate at $36,569.

The average BA minimum, or base rate, in the state for local school districts is $30,854. The average career rate for local school districts is $51,910, while the average master’s maximum prior to longevity steps is $56,838.

The publication points out that the figures do not include actual step placement for new hires, district “pick up” of any State Teacher’s Retirement System obligations, longevity payments, or any other additional payments that are beyond salary schedule amounts.
