Seven Indian Lake staffers to retire

The Indian Lake Schools Board of Education accepted the retirement resignations of seven staff members and made plans for breaking ground for the new elementary school building at its Monday evening meeting.

The following staff will retire at the end of the school year: Dave Corwin, high school guidance (31 years in the district); William Fulton, high school teacher (28 years); Barbara Fuson, middle school teacher (32 years); Jeffery Lacher, high school teacher (36 years); Judy Snapp, elementary school teacher (26 years); John Tucci, high school teacher (33 years); and Carolyn Stachler, food services (22 years). The resignation of Tonya Jacobs, two years in the district, was also accepted.

Administrators announced that the district will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new elementary school building at 4:30 p.m. Monday behind the high school football field.

In other action, the board:

• extended continuing contracts to teachers Dave Coburn, Doug Reprogle, Chris Burden and Jana McPherson;

• extended five-year limited contracts to teachers Joyce King, Tina Oakley, Ryan Stanford, Chris Anders, Morissa Sweeney, Deborah Berlin, Holly Powers and Sherry Thomas;

• extended two-year limited contracts to teachers Katie Glenn, Andrea Schlaegel, Todd Dietz and Jason Fauley; and

• extended one-year limited contracts to teachers Natalie Heyne, Chad Mossing, Amber Shively, Alicia Quay, Jordann Troyer, Kay Schulze, Sarah Jackson, Nathaniel Tennant, Alisha Ganger, Jon Shoffstall and Terry Nelson; and

• approved a one-year unpaid child-rearing leave of absence for Jodi Carter.
The next meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Monday, May 19, at the board office.
