Power outage prompts Huntsville to consider a generator A car accident in February that knocked out power to the village of Huntsville has prompted officials to consider the purchase of a generator to maintain power in case of a prolonged power outage. During its regular meeting Tuesday, the Huntsville Village Council discussed the need to power the fire department and village hall in such an event and is investigating its options. Fire Chief Tim Jenkins said he was looking into including a generator in with a grant the department is seeking to purchase a new fire truck and Jaws of Life tools. In other business, council approved 2008 appropriations totaling $320,335, with about $202,968 in the general fund. A meeting for residents interested in helping with a village festival is set to follow the April 22 council meeting at 8 p.m. Officials are hoping to spawn an annual event to stimulate interest and income for the village as they anticipate the closure of the Huntsville Elementary School when the new elementary school is completed. The next meeting is at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 25. |
