Russells Point council member resigns

During an otherwise routine meeting Monday, the Russells Point Village Council accepted the resignation of councilman H. Rick Pitts, for personal reasons.

Anyone interested in the vacant council seat, with two years remaining in the term, is asked to call the village offices at 843-2245.

In other matters, Lt. Andy Smith of the Logan County Sheriff’s Office introduced himself and told council his department endeavors to work closer with the county municipalities. Lt. Smith is a candidate for sheriff in the November election.

The council is responsible for cleaning up State Route 366 between the village and Lakeview during a cleanup week in April.

A neighborhood watch group meeting is slated for Feb. 21. Call the village office for details.

The Board of Public Affairs now meets at 5:30 p.m. the second and fourth Monday of each month.

The next regular council meeting is at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 18.
