OBIT McGILL Michael

Michael Albert McGill, 67, of West Liberty, born Nov. 2, 1950, in El Paso, Texas, son of Martin and Mary Higgins McGill, went to be with his Savior, in his home, surrounded by his family on June 5, 2018.

Michael married his best friend, Patricia Cronin McGill in Medford, Mass., on Dec. 4, 1971, and she survives, along with three sons, Timothy (Amy) McGill, Daniel (MaryAnn) McGill and Andrew (Lisa) McGill; his mother, Mary McGill; two brothers, David (Patty) McGill and Allen (Leica) McGill; 12 grandchildren, Jonathan, Rachel, Elijah, Anna, Naomi, Gabriel, Madeline, Luke, Evelyn, Shaye, Clara and Mia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Martin McGill; and a brother, Randell McGill.

The foundation of Michael’s life was his relationship with Jesus Christ. He would be the first to tell you that he was not perfect, but a sinner saved by grace. Throughout the course of his life he rested in the sovereignty of God. Michael was a 37-year member of Grace Chapel in West Liberty, where he loved and served the Body of Christ as an usher, Sunday school teacher and elder. Michael was a graduate of Xenia High School and The Ohio State University. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy.

Michael worked in agricultural business for many years before becoming the owner of Liberty Tax in Bellefontaine. Michael never knew a stranger, and had a zeal for learning and life. Michael’s greatest joy and love was his family.

Calling is from 2 to 4 and from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 8, at Grace Chapel, 500 Linden Ave., West Liberty, where a funeral service begins at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 9, followed by a graveside service and prayer in Highland Memorial Cemetery, West Liberty.
