Jo Ann Yelton, 83, of Bellefontaine, passed away at 7:40 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22, 2018, at Green Hills Care Center in West Liberty. She was born in Bellefontaine on May 11, 1934, to the late Marvin Earl and Sarah Maxine Kennedy Simpson.
On Oct. 23, 1951, Jo Ann married Vernar Lowell Yelton in West Liberty, and he preceded her in death Aug. 22, 1987. She was also preceded in death by her son, Robert Allen Yelton; and brother, David Simpson.
Jo Ann is survived by her four daughters, Deborah Jenkins, Jeannette (Behrle) Hubbuch, Victoria Moore and Jeannine (Frank) Williams; three sons, Anthony “Tony” (Monica) Yelton, Thomas Yelton and Christopher Yelton; a stepson, Vernar (Susie) Yelton; 22 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two siblings, Robert Simpson and Barbara Perrey; and many nieces and nephews.
Jo Ann was a homemaker for the majority of her life and also worked at Walmart for 12 years. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the Birds of Prey Rehabilitation Group.
Calling is from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 25, at the Eichholtz Daring & Sanford Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 321 N. Main St., Bellefontaine, where Ed Stevenson officiates a funeral service at 1 p.m. Monday, Feb. 26, Burial follows in Huntsville Cemetery in Huntsville.
