William Forest Runkle, 83, of Bellefontaine, passed away Saturday, Jan. 13, 2018, at Logan Acres.
He was born Nov. 6, 1934, in Lena, a son of the late John and Mary M. Maggert Runkle.
William was preceded in death by his wife of 44 years, Wanita J., in November 2017 and his twin sister, Jean L. Runkle.
William retired as an engineer from Conrail, Penn Central and New York Central railroads with 44 years of service. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Christian Union. William enjoyed spending time with family and friends as well as his Boston terrier dogs and visiting multiple Waffle House restaurants.
Survivors include his children and stepchildren, Mike (Karen) Runkle, Deb (Ed) Warnecke, Shari (Randy) Green, Tim (Cheryl) Runkle, Joe (Linda) Baldwin and Sheila (Rick) Strong; brothers, John L. (Sherrill) Runkle and Steve L. (Tam) Runkle; 23 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law Pansy (Samuel) Skaggs, Glenda (David) Smith and Frances Gilbert; brother-in-law, Arthur (Elyse) Gilbert Jr; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services begin at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home and Crematory, 5591 S. U.S. Route 68, West Liberty, where visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday and an hour prior to the Thursday service. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Cemetery.
