Richard C. Holden, 89, of Bellefontaine, passed away Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018, at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Richard was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Fostoria, to the late John “Charlie” C. and Irene Hunt Holden. On Dec. 3, 1949, he married Valorie Ellen Jones in Fostoria, and she also preceded him in death.
Richard retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of dedicated service to his country. During his time in the Air Force he served overseas in the Korean Conflict. Richard and his wife later were the owners/operators of Isle of Pines Resort in Minnesota where they enjoyed spending most of their time.
He also enjoyed many years of company with his “best buddy” Charlie, his beloved beagle. Richard was a loving, husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He will be deeply missed by all.
He is survived by his children, Dara (Dave) Wren, Rick (Karen) Holden and Robert “Bob” (Ann) Holden; grandchildren, Christy (Al) Couch, Jillyn (Shane) Meyer, Tom Holden, Jim Holden, Lauren (Brian) Ratliff and Lynn Holden; great-grandchildren, Mikaela Couch, Gabby Couch, Alex Couch, Madison Williams, Brooke Holden and Cameron Ratliff; brother, Ron (Mavis) Holden; sisters, Doris Richendollar and Betty Bella; many nieces and nephews; and a close family friend, Camilla Aukerman.
He also was preceded in death by brothers, Robert “Bob” (Hazel) Holden, John “Jack” (Maxine) Holden; sister, Janet (Archie) Waltermeyer; and brothers-in-law, Rollin Richendollar and Walter Bella.
A funeral service begins at 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, at Jennings Farley & Seeley Funeral Home & Crematory, following visitation that begins at 2 p.m. Burial is in Highland Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
